{Ergonia} A Letter from Ergonc

Elders are traditionally assigned a tent, or a place where they can counsel on the various matters of the nation. Here one can find the Teachers, the Wise, the Magicians, the Warriors, and the Traders.

{Ergonia} A Letter from Ergonc

Post by Thadeus Laing »

Greetings Your Excellency,

The Governing Council of The Independent Realm of
Ergonia has noticed that The Nation of the Reindeer
Herders has received approval from the MCS for its
territorial claims in northern Keltia. On behalf of
the Council, I extend greetings to your nation, and
wish to bring forth the topic of our two nations
possibly conferring diplomatic recognition upon
each other at some point in the future.

If you have any questions about Ergonia or my role,
I would be happy to answer them to your satisfaction.

I must say, I am hopeful that I can visit your wonderful
land soon. Your reindeer, your mountains, and especially
your snow are so delightful.

Regards,

Thadeus Lange, Jr.
The Grand Arkon and The Chief Ambassador of Ergonia

Greetings Mr. Lange,

Welcome to the land of the Reindeer Herders. Although Ergonia is quite a distance away from us, we would welcome a peace treaty between our two nations, thereby establishing official diplomatic recognition.

Kind regards,
Chief Atka

Chief Atka,

We have prepared a draft treaty of friendship and provided it below for the review of you and, if necessary, and of your elders. Excluded from the treaty is language on diplomatic immunity.
A TREATY OF FRIENDSHIP AND PEACE BETWEEN THE REINDEER HERDERS AND ERGONIA

AFFIRMING the spirit of friendship and cooperation on which relations between the two nations are based, and wishing to place their relations on a closer and more solid foundation;

AFFIRMING that both nations, The Nation of the Reindeer Herders (hereafter referred to as The Reindeer Herders) and The Independent Realm of Ergonia (hereafter referred to as Ergonia) formally recognize and respect each other as independent and sovereign nations, including the sovereign territories and property of each other: websites, message boards, any money deposited into the SCUE bank system, any money deposited into phpBank or other bank systems, territorial waters, and any land claims approved by the Micronational Cartographical Society;

ESTABLISHING that, owing to the fact that The Reindeer Herders traditionally use a barter system for economic transactions, it should be understood that references in this treaty hereafter that mention "tariffs" "economics", "finance", "trade", "finance", and their derivatives thereof, should be interpreted to encompass the exchange of a good or service for another good or service, as in a barter system, rather than just the exchange of a good or service for currency;

RECOGNIZING, with regards to economic relations, that the Parties affirm their commitment to investigating the possibilities of bilateral international trade; agree to investigate the possibilities of financial incentives in relation to trade between the two countries and to develop and strengthen further economical and financial links between the two;

RECOGNIZING, with regards to military relations, that the Parties agree to not take arms against the other (except in the case of ANUNIA sanctioned rec-wars approved by the mutual consent of both nations' governments); to seek further avenues for enhanced military co-operation on matters of joint strategic importance; and to develop plans for the holding of exercises and events involving the armed forces of both Parties for the purpose of improving co-operation and joint working and improving working relationships;

RECOGNIZING, with regards to military and diplomatic relations, that both parties shall respect the neutrality of the other. Therefore, if any disagreements occur between one of the signatories [party A] and another nation, it shall be understood that the other signatory party [party B] shall not be required to act on behalf of [party A], unless the government of [party B] decides to act (where party A and party B can be taken to mean, respectively, either Ergonia or The Reindeer Herders);

AFFIRMING that ships under the flag of the The Reindeer Herders are hereby granted the right of free passage through The Morovia River, also known as The Strait of Morovia, in Ergonia and are also exempt from having any tariffs levied upon any goods contained within said ships by Ergonia. However, ships of The Reindeer Herders must comply with all health and safety laws while in the territory of Ergonia, and the right of free passage may be waived at any time by Ergonia due to security purposes;

AFFIRMING that ships under the flag of the Ergonia are hereby granted the right of free passage through the territorial waters of The Reindeer Herders, and are also exempt from having any tariffs levied upon any goods contained within said ships by The Reindeer Herders. However, ships of Ergonia must comply with all health and safety laws while in the territory of The Reindeer Herders, and the right of free passage may be waived by The Reindeer Herders at any time due to security purposes;

ESTABLISHING, in recognition of the cultural and historical treasure that is The Reindeer Herders, a customs protocol, in which senior dignitaries of the government of The Reindeer Herders as well as artisans, traders of small traditional wares, dancers, and veterinarians specializing in the care of reindeer, who are citizens of The Reindeer Herders, and their immediate families, are hereby exempt from any requirement to have a visa or passport to enter or leave the territory of Ergonia. In addition, no tariffs shall be levied by Ergonia upon reindeer, tents, and traditional crafts or other small wares that are imported from The Reindeer Herders;

ESTABLISHING, in recognition of the legacy of scientific excellence of Ergonia, a customs protocol, in which senior dignitaries of the government of The Nation of the Reindeer Herders as well as scientists, philosophers, robotics engineers, and robotics technicians, who are official residents of Ergonia, and their immediate families, are hereby exempt from any requirement to have a visa or passport to enter or leave the territory of The Reindeer Herders. In addition, no tariffs shall be levied by The Reindeer Herders upon scientific instruments, books, artwork, medical supplies, and disassembled robotics parts that are imported from Ergonia.

ACKNOWLEDGING the importance to each nation of the relationship between them;

RESOLVED to evaluate and pursue opportunities for their governments to work closer together in a spirit of understanding on matters of mutual interest;

CONVINCED of the importance of creating, developing and maintaining relations on an equitable and mutually advantageous basis in a long-term perspective;

RECOGNIZING that cooperation between the two nations should have their common interest in the prosperity and welfare of both nations;

ESTABLISHING that this treaty may be modified in the future by joint agreement of both parties and approved by the signatures of the sovereigns of both nations;

AFFIRMING that each contracting party has the right to appoint an ambassador to the other contracting party, where each contracting party is allowed to demand immediate removal of the ambassador at any time since arrival and without notice;

THESE THINGS HEREBY ARE RESOLVED and both nations conclude this treaty, and for that purpose sign to indicate acceptance as follows:

____________________________________________________
THE NATION OF THE REINDEER HERDERS

Thadeus Z. Lange Jr
Sovereign and Chair of the Governing Council
____________________________________________________
THE INDEPENDENT REALM OF ERGONIA
While pursuing diplomatic immunity for our diplomatic officials
does interest us, on the advice of several members of the Council,
we have decided to pursue that matter at a much later time, if at all,
and in a separate treaty.

If there any changes to the draft that you would like, any at
all, Your Excellency, please let me know. We would be happy
to accommodate whatever it is you ask, if it is possible.

Kind Regards,

Thadeus Lange Jr

EDIT: Improved some grammar in the treaty and also
removed the part about diplomatic immunity which
accidentally got left in.

Mr. Lange,

We find the terms of the treaty acceptable and hereby affix our signature to the document. We will issue a decree affirming this decision shortly, however, you may consider the treaty to be in effect. Thank you for presenting such a definitive treaty. We hope that this improved exchange of people and ideas will lead to benefits for both our people.

Best regards,
Chief Atka
