as quickly as his wounds would allow.

The room was different, the voices in his head were gone, but the pain was still there.

"Where am I?"

The traditional phrase was expected.

"You are home in Shireroth, under the protection of the Count of Old Halluci, in one of the strongest places in Kildare.
Your family is en route from Shirekeep as we speak. Rest and be comforted. For nothing passes door & window here save moonlight & starlight & the wind off the hilltop."

Azada smiled. Then his eyes focused on the speaker.

He had heard stories of these creatures, stories that they still wandered East Elwynn. The speaker was a five meter long white dragon.

"And if anything tries, I will rend it. And eat the yummy parts."

Azada fainted.

You can get used to a lot of things you never thought you could. Bringing a knife to a gunfight, serious loss of blood.

A green-eyed white dragon as a nurse, well, that took a lot more getting used to.

Talking animals. Maybe he was still hallucinating? That was the name of the place, after all. But his parents and his brother Baba were here, and the dragon was real, and talked to them as well.

"The dragon". She had a name. Melisande.

Not it. She.

She had a beautiful singing voice, and was a fair cook. What other cook brought along a built-in barbeque?

The castle staff had prepared fired fish last Monday.

He preferred Melisande's roast trout, but he never complained.
