Geography

Corovnia is largely mountainous. Especially in the north and the east, large parts of the country are covered by a mountain ridge, called the Black Ridge, which forms a natural barrier. The nation has an extensive coastline on the west, where most Corovnians live and the largest cities are located. Corovina's territory extends to several larger islands in the western sea.

Forests also cover large parts of Corovnia, explaining the importance of lumber as Corovnia's main export product. Coal mines and other natural resources are also an important factor in Corovnia's economy. Both the mountainous and forested areas are sparcely populated.

From the east spring the Vilja and the Stromia river, both of which come together at the nations capital, Dergova, some 30 miles from the westcoast.

Government

Corovnia is ruled by a Prince who holds both the executive and justicial power. The official legislative power lies in the Senate, the unicameral parliament, that consists of 135 members. 50 members of the Senate are elected by the population in a general election, held every 5 years. 35 members are representatives of national institutions such as the Fidic Church and the Guilds. The remaining 50 seats are directly appointed by the Prince.

This parliamentary system effectively gives the Prince a large role in the legislature of Corovnia. Corovnia also does not have an official constitution, apart from the Charter of Corovnia, which was the founding document of the State, which only described the Senate as a chamber of 135 members, not specifying how these seats would be appointed. For centuries, all members of the Senate were appointed by the Prince and the current model was introduced some 100 years ago and is based on convention rather than law. This makes Corovnia basically an Autocratic society.
