Dergova is the capital and largest city of the Principality of Corovnia. Since the 5th century, the city has been the residence of the monarchs of the nation. It is not only politically and historically, but also culturally the central point of Corovnia, and has been for many years. Situated in the west of the country, on the confluence of the Vilja and the Stromia rivers, uniting in the Upper-Vilja, the city is home to about 250.000 people. When the smaller towns close to Dergova are taken into account, the larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 400.000.

Dergova has been a political, cultural, and economic centre of Corovnia during its entire existence and as such is home to the most important institutions, such as the Clovic III university and the Senate. Economically, Dergova can be regarded as the nations hub, due to the convenient location on the river, relatively close to the western sea.

The city's architecture is a mixture of styles. Most landmark buildings, such as the Koblics'- and Michael's Temple, but also the city hall, are built in Gothic style. Others, such as the Belfort, have a more Roman style. Modern buildings, such as the Senate and the Garden Palace, are built in neoclassical style.

Dergova is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, which define the city's rich center. Main attractions include the Dergova Castle, the Belfort, the Otto Bridge, Old Town Square, and Prince's hill, home to various palaces. The city's unique history can be experienced in the National museum, which is located in a massive building on the Viljia.

History

From a very early age, Dergova was an important meeting point for local tribes, and even before written history, several settlements were present at the area now covered by the city. The tribe of the Dari were the first known people to establish a permanent town on the bank of the Stromia river, a moment that is regarded as the birth of the city. Other tribes, most notably the Corac and the Meria, who resided in the Vilja-Stromia valley as well, soon began to interact with the Dari. A tribal confederation was formed and one of the local leaders was elected 'Uber'. This confederation has been regarded by historians as a very important point in the history of Corovnia.
