General Information
The Arasha Defence Forces or צבא הגנה אראשא (Tzva Hahagana LeArasha) is the military forces of the Free State of Arasha. An order by the Minister of Defense Moshe ben Shayid (who started his carreer as commander of the paramilitary organization in 5761) established the ADF as a permanent conscript army, formed from the various paramilitary groups and militias which aided in the establishment of the Free State. While the President serves as commander in chief, the ADF is headed by the Chief of the General Staff.
The ADF is composed of the Arashi Army, Navy and Air Force. The Free State of Arasha currently enforces compulsory military service for Arashi youth, starting at 18 and ending at 25; it is also notable for conscripting women alongside men. Whether conscripts or volunteers, all members of the ADF recieve the Arashi Service Medal at the end of their enlistment, and conscripts are usually offered a contract to become professional soldiers of the armed forces, an opportunity that many take; however, conscripts who do not choose to become professional soldiers are enrolled into the Arashi Reserves. The ADF is one of the largest employers in the Free State with 120,000 active personnel, and a large civilian staff.
