Succession Procedures Edict

HERETOFORE

WHEREAS, the Duke of Goldshire shall choose his successor, who must be a subject-citizen of Shireroth.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire voluntarily abdicates, his chosen successor shall automatically succeed him as Duke.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire has been absent or ill for a period of at least one month, his chosen successor shall automatically succeed him as Duke.

WHEREAS, "absent or ill...for a period of at least one month" shall be defined, for the purpose of this document, as meaning not having made or having attempted to make a post in the Duchy's online forums for a period of at least one (1) Earth month.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire has been absent or ill for a period of at least one month, but has not chosen a successor, the longest serving Baron of any Barony in the Duchy shall automatically succeed him as Duke.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire has been absent or ill for a period of at least one month, but has not chosen a successor, and there is no Baron of any Barony in the Duchy, the longest serving Count of any County in the Duchy shall automatically succeed him as Duke.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire has been absent or ill for a period of at least one month, but has not chosen a successor, and there is no Count of any County in the Duchy, the longest serving Subject of the Duchy shall automatically succeed him as Duke.

WHEREAS, if the Duke of Goldshire has been absent or ill for a period of at least one month, but has not chosen a successor, and there are no Subjects of the Duchy who have been active anywhere in Shireroth for the past two months, the Kaiser shall choose the Duke's successor.
