Invitation to sign

Post by Markus Doltrue »

I urge the people of the nations of the Policon to urge their leaders to sign the following

The Micrasian Convention on Person Rights

Within the borders of the Signatory:
1. Everyone has the right to liberty, life, and security of person.
2. No one shall be held in slavery.
3. No one shall be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment.
4. All persons have the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.
5. All are equal before the law.
6. All are entitled to a fair and just trial.
7. All have a right to privacy.
8. All have a right to freedom of movement.
9. Everyone has a right to leave the Signatory and return to the Signatory.
10. Everyone has a right to freedom of speech.

You are free as always to reach out to individual nations, but the Policon will not be signing onto this.

The Policon has this chance to become a force for positive change throughout Micras, to use its power to create a better life for perhaps trillions of Micrans.

Micras is a place where the impossible becomes possible.

Lichbrook (the dead becoming alive), Safiria (aliens visiting from a distant planet), Flying Islands of Jasonia ( http://shireroth.org/shirewiki/Flying_I ... of_Jasonia ) (people arriving via time travel) are just some examples.

But reasons are given for those. There's no reason anything close to a trillion humans could be comfortably supported on micras even if it were double or triple the size of earth. I just want to verify that this is just a number you pulled out of a hat.

Seems our world would be rather overpopulated. :geek:

In fact, in population numbers I even think that Micras is far below population numbers of the planet called Earth.

Based on the people who have been kind enough to dump some numbers onto the Micraswiki:

Birgeshir: 37,585
Calbion: 2,400,000
Constancia: 11,204,091
Craitland: 17,000,000
Florian Republic: 25,390,000
Free State of Haifa: 9,527,179
Gerenia: 5,974,000
Kalgachia: 16,000,000
Jingdao: 254,440,834
Mercury: 15,000,000
Natopia: 160,900,000
Nova England: 222,908
Passio-Corum: 34,709,939
Raspur: 4,105,283
Shireroth: 684,444,256
Senya: 9,500,000
Total: 1,250,856,075

Even once you add the other MCS members, especially Gotzborg, sprawling Stormark and Triesenberg, into the mix you're probably still going to be a long way short of seven billion, let alone trillions. Remember the vast swathes of the Green? This is the ruined husk of a world, slowly being subsumed by the indigenous biomes as the human attempt at colonisation progressively fails, not a Coruscant.

And if I'm not mistaken, Micras is a larger planet than Earth, no?

Yeah, but not by a huge amount:

Micras radius: 6,875 km
Earth radius: 6,371 km

By my own estimates, the total population of Micras currently sits around 4.1 billion. Prior to the collapse of Alexandria the population was closer to 4.6 billion. It is likely, in my view, that the world will never recover from that loss in population. We have reached peak population, and it is all downhill from here.

Sure, Micras may at present only have a few billion inhabitants. Obviously I was referring to a number which included future Micrans.

Clearly not obvious, and I doubt we'll last long enough to accumulate a trillion total anyway unless we start counting trees and bugs as civilians.

I believe he just hasn't thought this through one bit. Didn't even make sure a nation would sign before sending it to everyone.

How about preparation? Add that to your approach and you'll have better luck.

I am but a spokesperson. My message is given to me by NovaMicras (formerly SDPP) Chairperson Neiargir Boinopwa, presently of Willowshire. If you disagree with my approach, if anyone wants to take this list and use their salesmanship or negotiating genius to get it adopted by more people, as long as you are not removing any item from the list, send your pitch to me via PM and then I will send it to Chairperson Boinopwa. He has told me he will evaluate your potential and then decide whether to add you to the NovaMicras marketing team. NovaMicras: towards the Micras of Tomorrow!
