Saxvenii Join Brettans in Royal Matrimony

Post by Orion »

With the union of Willow and Hart through the marriage of King Landon and Queen Anne, a general thawing of relations has occurred between Saxvenus and the newly-reformed Brettania. While the two kingdoms have often been at odds, with various skirmishes, both share much in the way of common ancestry and culture. Realizing that Saxvenus could not stand against the united forces of Willow and Hart, King Angus of the Saxvenii had declared a cease-fire, opting to bring negotiations to the table, albeit at a glacial pace. In the interim however his son, Prince Wallace, was introduced to Queen Anne's younger sister, Princess Mary, while on a diplomatic mission to the north. In an unlikely twist of events the two became enamored with one another and announced that they wished to wed. Initially skeptical, King Angus eventually relented after meeting with King Landon to discuss the future of Brettania.

The agreement guaranteed Saxvenii rights and lands, making Saxvenus a "kingdom within a kingdom". Saxvenus will have its boundaries officially recognized and be incorporated into the greater Brettish Empire. The royal family of the Saxvenii will become an extension of the Brettish Royalty through the marriage of Prince Wallace and Princess Mary, and future leaders of the Saxvenii will be styled the Duke/Duchess of Saxvenus. King Landon has praised the marriage as a major victory towards reuniting Brettania. The Calderii have already been pushed from the mainland and isolated on their islands, and leaves them as the only foe halting the reunification of the Isles. With the arrival and support of Calbain troops, this too should help speed the defeat of the pirates stronghold. Many are praising the marriage as a good end to the longstanding conflict, seeing it as a positive resolution to a conflict several centuries old.
