OOC Discussion for everyone! & announcement

The Imperial State of Constancia: Benevolent hereditary dictatorship, constitutional monarchy, laissez-faire technocracy, aristocratic corporate state, organized crime family syndicate or liberal autocracy? It depends on the day.

OOC Discussion for everyone! & announcement

Post by Basileusa Cleo »

Hey everyone :)

This is going to be (I hope) an OOC discussion for everyone who wants to take part - that's the chance to add your input on Constancia about any topic (although I will start by announcing a new system for running elections).

First of all, from now on we will have election campaigns. Parties and people will be able to campaign every three months for people's votes. Polls will be released on a bi-weekly basis.

In order to make the system as fair and interactive as possible, I will be implementing a rather more complex voter pool based on groups. Each voter belongs to at least one group, each group has many voters, and one voter can belong to many groups. Whether or not an individual votes (and he party for which they vote) will depend on their overall satisfaction (based on each group of which they are a member). To start with, the following groups are put in place:

Based on political orientations:
Liberals
Socialists
Conservatives
Anarchists

Based on other criteria:
Capitalists
Commuters
Environmentalists
Ethnic Minorities
Poor
Middle Income
Retired
Students
State Employees
Nationalists
Highly Educated
Lowly Educated

Hope you'd like it! Feel free to comment and outline ideas for improvement!

Every three months risks burning everyone out like what happened in Alexandria with their similar election system. Having individuals gear up and plan election campaigns every three months will mean that by the time any actual developmental process for improving Constancia gets underway, it'll be distracted once again by another campaign about the same old issues. The similar risk of distraction / loss of time for other things is associated to biweekly poll development.

I'd suggest you consider a greater period of time between elections, so that at least something else might get done.
