Post by Basileusa Cleo »

The Free Associative Kingdom of Constancia may seem a tiny bit complicated as its culture has emerged gradually during many different ages with changing traditions. Here comes a guide to 'everything Constancian'.

The two faces - why?

Many people might wonder why Constancia, to a considerable degree, has two faces - an ancient one (for some weird reason called with the unknown meaning of a word 'greek') and a more modern tradition referred to as 'english'. But why is that?

Well, history.

In ancient times, like very ancient times during the age of the Ancient House, sovereigns used to style themselves as in most other countries at the time - they were 'Kings'. However, after the First Uindzor Regency (748-757), a different type of culture became more popular. The traditional names of the sovereigns changed, so did their title. Now they were "Basileuses" (raughly translated as Emperors), despite Constancia being no empire. 'The old tradition' almost disappeared and was completely forgotten by the vast majority of Constancians.

You would think that was it? Not quite.

As the First Constancian Kingdom reached its apogee and irrevocably fell down, a new House would come and establish new order in a new Kingom - The Noble House of Williams. During their time, Constancia reached its best moments in history, but also suffered some of her greatest defeats ever. Story for anther time. The new House needed to re-impose its authority and power and decided to return 'the old tradition' into existance. As they did, the word 'Basileus' and all other 'greek' associations were completely erased from the face of the Earth, excepting the Prosgeiosi Basileus. One of the Williams' most influential legacies is that they actually changed society and created the basis on which modern Constancia was built.

As The Royal House of Welleys came to power, things changed again altough not that dramatically. It is a well-known secret that there is a very special relationship between the Noble House of Williams and the The Royal House of Welleys, the latter always standing for the legacy of the Noble House. So despite being on the 'greek' side of it, the Welleys did little change on this matter. At least until early 2016, when under the influence of Peter III (now known as Petros III) the then Parliament passed the Return to the origins Act which basically restored the traditions of the Basileuses. Nowadays, the sovereign is not a King, but as once upon a time - a Basileus. As a result, a lot of terms were changed, but a significant number remained as they were left by the Noble House. So, in short, that is the story of Constancia's dual face.
